Job Description:

  • The selected Level II NDT Tech will be required to provide support through the preparation, maintenance, and review of procurement/contractual documents (Statements of Work, Specifications, Quality Plans, etc.) to ensure compliance to customer/government contractual requirements related to NDT.
  • The ideal candidate will:
  • Be proficient in the use and application of technical management standards, principles, theories, and techniques to provide innovative solutions to assigned tasks.
  • Have a thorough understanding of all Non-Destructive Inspection techniques and theories in all disciplines.
  • Be required to support NDT technicians to ensure they are given adequate techniques to perform their duties and resolve any issues that may arise during performing their work. This includes maintaining and creating reference standards and general procedures for each method of inspection being performed.
  • Work closely with a multi-functional shipboard and shop Engineering Teams to support day to day program activities.
  • Be able to work independently to determine and develop solutions and communicate those solutions through strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) processes, procedures, and inspections
Required Experience:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledgeable in performing Quality Assurance support tasks associated with mechanical/ structural/piping/electrical repair and upgrades and installation of electronic systems on US Navy Ships.
  • Hands-on experience with shipboard electrical/structural installation including Cable, Connectors, Power Modifications, and structural modification.
  • Must be able to read and understand Ship Installation Drawings.
  • Must have experience in leading small installation teams.
  • Experienced with JFMM, 9090-310, NAVSEA Standard Items, NAVSSES 4790.2 Series Installation documentation, WAF/TUMS.
  • Understanding of shipboard/shipyard environment.
  • Perform shipboard surveillances of structural, piping, ventilation, and electrical installation. Generate QA reports. Familiarity with US NAVY ships Structural, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment including shipboard electric, power generation and transmission equipment.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), cableway and connector certifications, fiber optics and integrated network systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office is mandatory.
  • Ability to perform evaluation of subcontractors/vendors based on their ability to meet quality assurance requirements.
  • Performs physical inspections and writes procedures/standards for the Quality Control
  • Department.

Certified ASNT NDT Level II with nondestructive testing background. Responsibilities

Includes:

  • Interface regarding technical and production issues.
  • Interface with customer representatives for relevant quality/technical issues.
  • Interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the methods to meet.
  • Industry and customer requirements.
  • Develop and provide craftsmanship training for all trades.
  • Supervisory and training experience.
  • Capable of writing and interpreting procedures and standards.
  • Ability to read and interrupt prints.
  • Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and shipboard QA inspections
  • Proficient in different software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project).
  • Ability to work overtime and travel.
  • The requirements of the role include 2-5 years’ experience in NDT Testing in ship repair and alteration installation environment, and the ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
  • The candidate MUST have Level II NDT certifications through a certified NDT program.
